“We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
As you get to know Mt. Olivet Methodist Church, you will find both a variety of opportunities for our members and friends to connect with one another in meaningful ways, and opportunities to serve God in the community. We are always looking for people to help with our outreach ministries. If you’d like to volunteer, you can get in touch with us at 304-242-3162. We look forward to hearing from you!
The Lord’s Pantry
There is a greater need to serve those that are without the basics during the economic woes our nation is undergoing.
The Lord’s Pantry maintains a ready supply of food and has access to other items as needed. If you are in need or know someone who is in need, please call us at 304-242-3162 so we can do our best to help you or find the assistance that you need.
The Lord’s Pantry currently distributes food on the 4th Friday of each month to those in need living in Marshall and Ohio counties, West Virginia (In November and December we distribute on the 3rd Friday).
If you are in need, please come to Mount Olivet on the closest 4th Friday of the month.
If you would like to volunteer, we are always seeking assistance. Please call the church at 304-242-3162 for more info.
If you can’t come out to help pack food for the recipients, please feel free to make a financial donation. Checks may be made payable to Mt. Olivet UMC. Please write Pantry in the memo line.
All donations are tax deductible.
The Backpack Program
Mt. Olivet UMC coordinates a weekly food ministry, delivering weekend “backpacks” to over 55 children at Bethlehem Elementary School.
The current cost is $180.00 per child for the school year. Bags of food are prepared at our church and delivered to the school for teachers to distribute to children as they leave on Friday afternoons. The food is nutritious and easy to prepare and provides at least two meals a day for the child during the weekend. The program has been successful with generous support from members of our congregation and some friends and extended family.
Please prayerfully consider making a difference in this ministry by sponsoring a student or contributing to the program. Your donations of easily accessible food items like chicken noodle soup, peanut butter crackers, and fruit snacks would be greatly appreciated. You also have the option to donate online here.
